Sicarans

The last batch of tanks from the Starter box, painted at the same time as the Predators and with the same techniques. Not much to say about them save for the fact that they so far have been useless on the field getting killed on turn 1 or 2 without causing any damage haha

With this post I have managed to fulfill all the objectives I set at the end of last year and I am super happy because of that. But since I recently bought a Support Box that has more Dreadnoughts and some support weapons, I decided to include these as a stretch goal to the original goals so I am going to post them next!

Predators

The second batch of tanks I painted were the ones included in the starter box: Predators and Sicarans.

I followed exactly the same method and techniques as with the Rhinos. These three with lascannons have been so far  always in all the games I have played.

Rhinos

After having painted the Infantry and Contemptors I needed to paint the tanks to provide some much needed support.

First of all, a box of Rhinos to provide some mobility. I typically field two Demi-Companies. One on foot and one fully mechanized. And for the one with vehicles, I usually have at least 6-8 Rhinos.

Unfortunately, as you probably will see in the pictures, there is a huge coarse grain mixed with dust overall and even tiny filaments... That is the varnish coat that managed to completely botch the paint job... not only for these Rhinos but in fact for all the miniatures that I had painted and was varnishing in batch, that I will be showing in the upcoming weeks. After banishing that varnish spray to the Eye of Terror I went back to the hobby desk to redo most of the colours...

The way I painted these was super fast:

1. base coat black with spray
2. green with airbrush
3. black again on the black or metal parts
4. boltgun metal on the metal parts
5. wash green with dark wash enamel for green vehicles
6. wash metal with strong tone (kind of agrash)
7. apply decals
8. varnish

All in all I think it took about 2 hours in total.

Dreadnought Talon (I)

For today I bring the first Dreadnoughts I have painted for Epic (Legionis Imperialis), two with twin-linked lascannon and two with assault cannons.

They were super fast to paint, probably 1 hour in total. Just airbrush green, black on the metal parts, boltgun metal, thinned agrax overall and done.

Now, onto the tanks!

JoyToy Sons of Horus Legionary with Bolter

This is not really a new miniature that I have painted but rather a new toy I bought.

Since the JoyToy figures were released I always wanted to own one so when the Sons of Horus line was announced I pre-ordered one Legionary "to test". I have to say I like them a lot (and my kids as well!) so I will probably get a couple more.

Since then, both Abaddon and Horus have been released so that makes me think....

Maloghurst

A few years ago I visited Warhammer World and I wanted to pick up something to remind me of the visit every time I would play it, so I chose Maloghurst. I found it an intriguing character in the books and despite the fact I almost never play I Standard Bearer I thought that I could anyway use it as a Praetor or any other type of Hero.

It has sit on the shelf for a couple of years but the other day I finally decided to paint it. I think I overdid it a little bit with the "grimdark" style, but sometimes that's the nature of letting it flow. Overall it fits in nicely with the rest of the Army so no real harm done.

Frosthaven (II)

As our party retired the Deathwalker the other day, here is its replacement: The Crashing Tide!

I again went for a 30min quick paint job focusing on just giving it a bit of colour. Not much to say about it, just another go down!
