Neophyte Hybrids (IV)

The Army is almost ready!

Here are the last 10 count as Neophytes. Since the release of the new Necromunda I wanted to paint one of the bands, and from my point of view the sculpts for the Delaque are among the best, so I needed to find a way to incorporate them into the Army.

With the Genestealer Cult background is quite easy in fact to add almost any kind of troop you want, as the Cult might have infiltrated anywhere. I decided these guys will be the elite that is pulling the strings of the Cult while at the same time maintaining a presence on the Hive.

The miniatures are a pleasure to paint and the sculpts superb. The scheme I have decided to follow is quite dark but fits them well.

Instead of browns that were used by the 'Eavy Metal Studio, I decided to use grey with a dark wash on top of the highlights to tune them down a bit. Weapons and other details were painted without metal paints in order to make them stand out compared to the rest of the Army, they are the Elite after all!

In order to tie them up with the Genestealer theme, I have painted in violet the snakes (Delaque symbol) as well as adding some violet glazes to the extremely pale skin.

While I tried to keep the paint job still quite fast, in order to get them ready soon, I spent three times as much time with them as with the other Neophytes. They are not at a very high level, but at least all details are taken care of and I gave them a few simple highlights.

Neophyte Hybrids (III)

The last 7 of the Neophytes are done. The remaining 10 are "count as" Neophytes but the miniatures are not the same as these ones.

Only 15 figures to go! I will try to do it before the end of the month.

Neophyte Hybrids (II)

Wow, the first batch of these guys was done back in February 2019, more or less one year ago!

Here are another 7 for the Cult, painted in a similar manner as the original ones but with slightly updated recipes to make it even faster. Basically, reducing the amount of layers painted by using white primer and painting washes on top of the primer instead of painting base color and highlight on top of black primer. That way, for battletop level, is more than enough. Kind of a cheap Contrast Technique...

The seven were painted in less than 4 hours. Another batch is already on the table, I will not stop now that I am on a good streak!

And the last 6 Genestealers are done!
I am not looking forward to paint any more of these guys any time soon! After Space Hulk and 40 for this Army, I think it's enough!
Now that I have 2/3 of the Army painted, I was reviewing it to check what to paint next and I realized I have previously missed 6 figures, so the "pending" part below is updated.

Abominant

Finally, here is the first miniature of 2020!
The Abominant, champion for my 10-strong Aberrant unit.
It was a fun figure to paint, and even though I used the same techniques as with the Aberrants, I tried to give him slightly different colours for the bone parts, to make him stand out a little bit.
Just as I was painting the familiar, I realized I have another two, so I gave them a quick paint job.

Over xmas I managed to get my hands on the remaining 13 Genestealers, so those are next to close up the two units.

In early March there is a friendly tournament in my local hobby shop, 1250 points, 3 missions, and I am considering participating if I manage to get the Army ready. Only 36 figures to go! Well in fact, I won't be using the Clamavus, Kelermorph and Metamorph so only 33... let's see if I can make it!
